More Detailsful candidate will be involved in delivering on-site services to our client` customers, supporting their business-critical systems remotely, and developing new solutions and services. The role will also involve communication with staff at all levels of the company and with external clients and suppliers. The role will involve working at client sites and provision of out of hours support as required. Candidates must have a full and clean driving licence. Responsibilities Include: * Build, configure and test systems for customer delivery. * Install systems on-site at customers’ premises and commission. * Support customers systems remotely and on-site. * Participate in research and development, making appropriate recommendations. * Assist in the control and development of projects. * Recommend the purchase of equipment/software. * Co-ordinate and prioritise workload. A successful applicant must: * Be Educated to HNC/HND level standard or equivalent in a vocational qualification in an IT related subject. * Have accreditation in OpenVMS (System & Network Node Management Level II) desirable. * Have accreditation in MS Windows (MCSA/MCSE) or networking (CCNA) desirable. Your experience must: * Be significant proven and demonstrable technical/support experience * Have knowledge of modern operating systems: Unix (desirable), Microsoft (desirable) * Be significant and proven knowledge of OpenVMS is essential * Have knowledge of hardware, systems, networking and security * Have experience of managing technology projects * Have communication experience up to management level with external and internal clients * Have experience providing technical advice to colleagues and non-technical people * Have experience of modern database systems i.e. SQL Server, MySQL and Oracle The employment package will offer a competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
